Kitty Bowls!

While I certainly don’t endorse cruelty to animals, this just happens to be the most adorable bowling set ever.

Who needs TV when you have Bowling Kitties! This was created for a fun family game night. It is great for all ages to play together and helps little ones with hand-eye coordination as well as counting (“How many kitties did you knock down?”). Keep the house clutter free with the included canvas bag, made just for the Bowling Kitty set.

All the kitties are made in maple and feature carved faces, white bodies in red stripes, and sanded edges (no sharp corners!)

Best of all, you don’t hurt any kitties! Sounds way more fun than normal bowling. Made by Sara and Ben of Kitty Baby Love, this awesome set sells for US$45 through Etsy.

Tetris Inspired Modular Seating

The Industrial Designer that created this concept designed it to ‘encourage quick and critical thinking‘ by children. I think they’re overlooking a potentially massive market for it… young professionals with too much disposable income and not enough nostalgic furniture.

While I currently lack the disposable income, I’d definitely have a stack of Tetris blocks in my lounge room.  Think of the endless possibilities of couch configurations!!

Sadly it’s not available for purchase.  But if it ever gets commercially made, I’d be first in line.

Celebrity Babushka Dolls

Shame that these “nesting” dolls by Ginger Williams aren’t for sale:

Apart from the Golden Girls She’s also re-created the Sex & The City girls, Kiss, Saved By The Bell (hell, yes!) and even The Beatles.

I suppose creating a set in the image of Twilight or True Blood would be in order?

Biddy Bags.

In Redcliffe, north of Brisbane, there are some very busy women – 7 of them in fact – knitting and crocheting for Biddy Bags. Biddy Bags, the brainchild of Samantha Jockel, combines the creativity of young designers with the skills and abilities of crafting nannas to produce handcrafted, ethical designer products. Through this Biddy Bags also connects socially isolated nannas and mature-aged ladies through craft, economic participation and social networking.

Their products range from awesome handbags to tea cosies and ipod covers. Each product comes with a fridge magnet that tells the story of it’s maker. For each product sold the woman who crafted it receives over half of the profit with the remainder being used to cover operational costs and to expand the enterprise’s reach – so you can feel all warm and fuzzy knowing that you’ve supported such a talented pensioner.

You can purchase Biddy Bags and other products straight from their website, or visit one of their stockists. Prices range between AU$22 and $80, depending on the product. And of course you can also follow @BiddyBags on twitter.

Giant kitteh couch

Think we have all seen the giant kitteh couch that has been doing the rounds this week. But there have been little detail about the what, why and where of this furry giant

The couch is part of the Unfold art installation in Belgium, 8 artists are taking over an old apartment block.

Also part of this installation, in the bathroom there is a small video projection of a cat drinking from the dripping tap.

Check out the rest at Unfold, they even have the pattern so you could make your own if you are so inclined.

Via craftzine and HT to Maliss for the nudge ;)

We maybe a *little* kitteh biased here at That’s Noice. I’m sure you hadn’t noticed ;)

But now that we have a new babeh in the house I have been spending a little too much time (and OMG let’s not talk about the $$$) shopping for doggie stuff.

Vote Below The Line!

Okay, two election posts in a row is a bit much I know, but I think this is worth it. In case you’ve been living under a rock, the Australian Federal Election is being held on 21 August 2010. When picking your favourite party in the Senate (or perhaps, the the ‘least worst’ party) you probably don’t think too much about their preferences. If you usually vote above the line, think about this:

ALP and Democrat voters helped elect Steven Fielding of the Family First Party to the Senate in 2004. They may not have intended to but that’s what happened when they voted above the line in the Senate.

Regardless of whether you like Steven Fielding, having your vote end up with him when you were in fact voting for the ALP or the Democrats is a bit disconcerting. And before you tell me that voting below the line is a total pain in the ass, this election there are a few handy tools on the internet to help you out.

The main one is the Vote Below The Line! website. Select your state, your preferred party and check out where your preferences are going to go.

Happy with where they’re going? Great! Vote above the line!

Not happy? Well, by doing some simple clicking and dragging you can arrange how your want the preferences to be and then download a PDF file which shows you how you can vote below the line based on your own preferences.

And if you’ve made it this far in the post, you deserve an amusing cat image to make it all better.

Political Advertising Done Right

That’s Noice! is politically unbiased entity, but with the Australian Federal Election coming up I simply wanted to state that this is how political advertising should be done.

No mud slinging. No fear tactics. Just a simple message saying ‘if you think these things matter, vote for us’. Best of all that @GreensMPs have said ‘We like. A lot.’ Brilliant!

The full version plus more insights into the way advertising works in our political system can be viewed on the Gruen Nation, 9pm Wednesdays on ABC1. Or catch up on iView.

Cadbury creme eggs all year round

Candbury have just released a new chocolate that will have creme egg fans cheering. Twisted is a creme egg, in bar form that you can enjoy all year round..not just at easter.

Tastes just like a creme egg, although the chocolate is a little too thick for me. But they are much easier to eat than the regular egg.

Perfect pancake recipe

Mcdonald’s hotcakes…Mmmmm pancakes *insert drooling*

Ever wanted to recreate them at home? Well now you can!

I finally got around to trying this recipe on the weekend, it was very similar to my regular recipe..but some tweaking..and adding vanilla O M G they totes taste just like McDonald’s hotcakes!

Many thanks to the lovely Liss at Frills in the Hills, you should totes jump over and check out her other amazing recipes!

But..onto the pancakes..

What you’ll need….
2 cups plain flour
2 tb caster sugar
4 tsp baking powder
1 tsp bicarb soda
1 tsp salt
600ml buttermilk (i.e. one carton)
80g butter, melted
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 large eggs

Method:
Put your buttermilk into your bowl. Then add your sifted dry ingredients and melt the butter. Beat with an electric mixer until the mix is fluffy.

Please don’t tell me you need guided instructions on how to actually cook them?

I doubled the recipe, cause my lot are pancake pigs. Serve with butter and maple syrup, although my fave pancake topping is dulche de leche (or Top N Fill)

Don’t forget to check out Frills in the Hills, she even made her own oreos!

Noice-ities: Now with added kitten!

I’m not sure if you’ve noticed, but it’s Friday already. This week I was convinced that Tuesday was actually Thursday, so by the time we got to today I’d lost all track of what day it was, which made it a lovely surprise. Friday also means it’s time for Noice-ities! And why not throw in a gratuitous kitten video while I’m at it?

I enjoy Noice-ities – reflecting on the positives of the week just gone makes me feel heaps better about the negatives – because they are almost always outweighed by the positives… you’ve just gotta find them…!

Did something noice happen during the last week? Have you got something noice coming up this weekend? Let everyone know about it!

To join in this week’s Noice-ities:

  • Comment below letting us know what was noice in your week; or if you have a blog…
  • Write a post about your noice bits and use the magical linky form below to tell us about it.

Hell Pizza interactive zombie adventure.

The Hell Pizza chain in New Zealand are known for their ‘different’ marketing tactics. From deliveries arriving in hearses to the little coffin (“for your remains”) built into the pizza box. Their latest round of marketing shows a rather innovative way of using youtube… or at least, I haven’t seen it done this well before. I present “Deliver me to hell – real zombies attack”

[Warning: There is lots of fake blood and gore. It is a zombie adventure, after all].

If you played the adventure, let us know what you think in the comments.

ElliptiGO: the outdoor elliptical bicycle.

Someone must have been riding their bike one day and thought, “This is good, but I’d like it to be harder. And more unstable.” And thus, the ElliptiGO was born.

The ElliptiGO 8S delivers a high-performance workout experience that closely mimics running outdoors while eliminating the impact. By modifying the elliptical trainer motion and combining it with a bicycle, the ElliptiGO 8S provides a comfortable, fun and efficient way to exercise outdoors. The ElliptiGO 8S is great for runners who want to extend their running lives, cross-training athletes who want to get a serious weight-bearing cardiovascular workout without the associated pounding caused by running, and for fitness enthusiasts who enjoy the elliptical trainer motion but don’t want to be stuck in a gym.

Now, I ride bikes quite avidly. So it’s slightly concerning that I want to try one. Unfortunately it’s only available in the US on pre-order. The ElliptiGO comes in three different colours, and sells for US$2,199 – not including shipping.

Snuggies from Iceland

Hattip to Suze for sending in this bit of noice. If you have anything you reckon we could feature on That’s Noice, let us know.

Lets face it, snuggies have to be one of THE most unstylish fashion items even invented.

Well, those crazy folks from Iceland have their own snuggie, the seal pelt that seems to be a little more funky..if your into seals anyway. Though they look a bit more like penguins to me?

Might be a bit more $$ than the infommercial snuggie, from what I can work out on the site they are about $270AU. But I reckon these look perfect to stuff a kitteh or 3 in for a snuggle and some TV.
