Millionpurrs
The Million paws walk is on again May 17th. A great RSPCA event to help raise money and awareness as well as a great day out for people and their dogs.
That’s great and all, but what about us cat peoples?
Well, the RSPCA has launched a new event this year just for cats!
Million Purrs is a virtual event just for cats! You can help raise money for the RSPCA all without leaving your house.
In the past year, the RSPCA cared for more than 69,000 cats across Australia. The RSPCA relies on generous donations for 98% of their funding, which is why fund raising events like these are so very important.
How it works is, you sign up and make yourself a kitteh avatar (like mine over there) and profile. You can then interact with other users in virtual worlds with your kitteh. Great for adults and kids.
To raise money, you need to find sponsors. Send your friends your profile link where they can simple make a donation to sponsor you and your cat or they can purchase virtual gifts like food, toys and kitty litter for your cat (cause we all know how expensive that stuff can be..even for virtual kittehs!)
Million Purrs sign up and start collecting sponsors, come back and let us know if you sign up and your profile link or username. Or you can just sponsor my cat by visiting my profile or searching for crazymeezer. All processed go directly to the RSPCA and are tax deductable of course.
What a great idea..
Great idea. Those the main page links you provided don’t work though.
I’m surprised they’re not advertising it more thoroughly, I can’t see a mention of it on the main RSPCA website anywhere.
Liz’s last blog post..Fatboy Catbag
Thanks Liz, have fixed those links up :)
I first read about it in the RSPCA newsletter, I guess they will start advertising it more soon.
Great news for all us crazy cat ladies.
Thanks for blogging about Million Purrs Leigh, your support is appreciated! Hope you enjoy it, and let me know if you have any feedback.
@Liz We did a soft launch of Million Purrs last week, however we’re promoting it to the wider public from this week.
