How to make a cupcake cupcake topper

This is based loosely on Kristan‘s “recipe”.

Unwrap a mini Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup. Pipe icing onto it.

Add to an already iced cupcake using our Perfect Cupcake Recipe!

Looks noice, doesn’t it?

(Psst, it tastes good, too)

All the bacon flavours you have ever dreamed of

We here at Team That’s Noice are fans of piggies as pets, so I feel a bit wrong by mentioning bacon products… but American company J&D’s exists solely to create and sell bacon-flavoured goodies.

I originally discovered J&D’s a few months ago with their nommy Baconnaise (urg, bacon-flavoured mayo? No thanks…), and and rediscovered their deliciousness yesterday when someone tweeted about bacon soda.

Gross.

But maybe bacon-flavoured popcorn, lip balm or sunflower seeds might take your fancy? How about envelopes with bacon-flavouring on the  lick sticky seal bit? Or the truly disgusting bacon-flavoured baby formula? Luckily, that one’s on back order.

BUT! You can order all this shit online and they’ll deliver worldwide! I’m seriously considering getting a gift pack for the people in my life who already have everything they need… hey, at least they’ll remember what I got them for their next birthday ;)

Jim’s Pancakes

Who doesn’t love pancakes!? They have to be one of my fav treats. I don’t remember eating them much as a kid however.

Jim loves pancakes too, and baking THE most awesome pancakes for his daughter. They are truely amazing! Moon and ball shape are about as far as my creative skills go.

Brasserie Bread: Baking with Brioche Workshop

A couple of weeks ago I headed to Brasserie Bread to take part in their Baking with Brioche workshop. Why did I go? Well, it all came down to one single tweet: something about sticky cinnamon buns. Yep, that’s all it takes to get me to sign up for a 3 hour, $130 course.

In my rush to get there on Thursday night I completely forgot to take my camera, but luckily my shiny new phone is capable of taking photos. (Oh, technology these days!).

First up, we used some pre-prepared dough to create a collection of nommy items (including the sticky cinnamon buns, not pictured). Here they are pre resting and baking.

Our ‘nommy items’ also included our dinner: a salmon coulibiac (a Russian fish pie typically made with salmon or sturgeon, hard-boiled eggs, mushrooms and dill, baked in a pastry shell.) Of course, the salmon was wrapped in brioche, continuing the theme of the workshop.

It was, without even the slightest bit of exaggeration, the best salmon-based meal I’ve ever had. And, yes, I had already starting eating my meal before I took photos of it. I’d never make it as a food blogger.

Once dinner was over we went back into the kitchen to make our own dough from scratch. At this point you get to see exactly how much butter goes into brioche. And it’s, um, a lot. In between working the dough, we take a short tour of the bakery, and watch our creations get put into a massive oven for baking.

Exciting, no? Well, you’ll have to trust me that it is. Just a little bit.

At the end of the three hours we get to go home with not only the skills we’ve picked up, but also days worth of brioche for the eating.

Plus a little recipe hand out the includes the recipe for the Sticky Cinnamon Buns. What more could you ask for?

Brasserie Bread hold a range of baking workshops at their cafe in Banksmeadow, NSW. You can find out more information on their website.

Mmm Pineapples

Fresh, delicious pineapple…MMMmmmm makes your mouth water just thinking about it! None of that that crap from a can stuff. Up until only a few years ago I didn’t realise there was THAT much of a difference in taste. If you have not tried fresh pineapple you are seriously missing out in life.

Pineapple is one of my fav fruits, love eating and drinking it. Hot or cold…I know there are a lot of people out there who can’t stand the thought of pineapple on pizza etc, I can’t think of anything better.

Food blogger I most certainly am not, but when the guys at King of Fruit Pineapples recently asked if I wanted to have a crack at cooking some stuff with their pineapples..I thought why not.

Anyway..on to my pineappley creations..something basic for those culinarily challenged folk like me.

First off was a super delicious fruit salad…can mess that up…and super yum!

Next was chicken and pineapple skewers on the BBQ, again, not rocket surgery but delish none the less.

And lastly, something a little more daring (but shhh I cheated and used crepes from a box) Ham, pineapple and cheese crepes. Think this was my fav, other than just nomming it fresh cut on it’s own.

So what is your fav Pineapple recipe? You could win yourself some cool prizes by entering the King of Fruit recipe challenge, check out their site for details..and all the other entrants recipes.

This has to be THE best cookbook..EVER. Hardly surprising coming from Ikea though right? Not sure when, or if this will ever available in Australia..I hope so!

The Swedish cookbook Hembakat är Bäst which means homemade is best, is a collection of 30 recipes all with this wonderful styling.

The styling of the ingredients is just mind blowingly beautiful, like no other cookbook I’ve ever seen…I love it!

Touch Sensitive Cooker

While only a concept, this is a super awesome idea. Should we ever own our own place (and this be in production), I’d totally raid our piggy banks to get one.

One downside: it doesn’t seem that you’d be able to use it just to rest things on. Burny handbag, anyone?

Best healthy snack..EVA!

We have been back on the health kick at our place recently. Trying to find yummy stuff to nibble on during the day can be a challenge. I don’t mind normal rice cakes, though they aren’t too great on their own.

Spotted these in woolies the other week, and thought i’d give them a try.

Sunrice caramel rice cakes. O…MG. They are SO f’ing awesome! I have everyone at home and at work hooked on them. They taste a lot like lolly gobble bliss bombs, with a hell of a lot less calories.

They also come in Apple and cinnamon (which I HATED) and Honey, but I haven’t been able to find these in the shops yet.

Cadbury creme eggs all year round

Candbury have just released a new chocolate that will have creme egg fans cheering. Twisted is a creme egg, in bar form that you can enjoy all year round..not just at easter.

Tastes just like a creme egg, although the chocolate is a little too thick for me. But they are much easier to eat than the regular egg.

Nom!

Perfect pancake recipe

Mcdonald’s hotcakes…Mmmmm pancakes *insert drooling*

Ever wanted to recreate them at home? Well now you can!

I finally got around to trying this recipe on the weekend, it was very similar to my regular recipe..but some tweaking..and adding vanilla O M G they totes taste just like McDonald’s hotcakes!

Many thanks to the lovely Liss at Frills in the Hills, you should totes jump over and check out her other amazing recipes!

But..onto the pancakes..

What you’ll need….
2 cups plain flour
2 tb caster sugar
4 tsp baking powder
1 tsp bicarb soda
1 tsp salt
600ml buttermilk (i.e. one carton)
80g butter, melted
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 large eggs

Method:
Put your buttermilk into your bowl. Then add your sifted dry ingredients and melt the butter. Beat with an electric mixer until the mix is fluffy.

Please don’t tell me you need guided instructions on how to actually cook them?

I doubled the recipe, cause my lot are pancake pigs. Serve with butter and maple syrup, although my fave pancake topping is dulche de leche (or Top N Fill)

Don’t forget to check out Frills in the Hills, she even made her own oreos!

I love Fred products, they are so much fun, and really appeal to my sense of humour.

Another new product from Fred, ninjabread men *giggle*

Shame it takes a few months for the products to turn up here in Australia, I wouldn’t mind some Nomskulls too.

The Wine Rack: also a sports bra

Just quietly, I don’t think I’d get much running done if I wore this thing:

US$28.75 + US$35.49 shipping (!!!) to Australia = US$64.24. Hmm, sadly not really worth the price unless it’s for a REALLY spesh occasion…
